The Zoo: Hawaii Part 2

We went to the Honolulu Zoo on Monday. It was me, Justin and Josie, Trisha and her kids Naylia and Brandson, and Tori with her son Nate. It was lots of fun! They have a section called the Keiki Zoo (kids zoo) that has lots of cool stuff for the kids, such as a goat petting area. This is one this that Josie loved--a giant fish tank. There are tunnels that you can crawl through to get to the center. Josie didn't want to leave, but there were other kids waiting for their turn.

Checkin' out some lizards in the reptile house.

A cool peacock.
Hippos!
All worn out. This was a frequent sight during our trip.

It was a warm day, so when we got home Trisha got Naylia's pool out to play in.

Not so sure about this..

Me and Naylia singing princess songs. She knows all the words, its so adorable!

Here's a cute video of Tutu with the grandbabies. She had so much fun having them all there!

Friday thru Sunday

I got the grocery shopping done, got all unpacked and got Josie down for a nap, so I thought I'd try getting some pictures up. I hooked up my camera to the computer to start uploading the pictures and found that I have 315 pictures just from this trip! There is no way that I will have time in one sitting to sort through the pictures and pick which ones to put on the blog. So I'm going to do it in chunks. Here are the highlights for the first few days we were there.

First time at the beach!
Here Josie is with Grandma Tutu and Cousin Brandson
Josie and Brandson were known as the twins during this trip (I think you can see why)
even though Josie is 2 months older.

First taste of sand.. YUM!

Trying out the water

Josie LOVED the sand.

Feeding the beach toys to Brandson.

Brandson, Josie and Naylia playing in the sand.

Cute little bum!

Bath Party!

One of the fun things about going to Tutu's house is that Josie got to play with some of the books and toys that I played with when I was a kid. Here she is checking out the book selection. (That one was one of my favorites--Follow the Zookeeper)

Sunday after church.

"Mom! Quit playing the piano and pay attention to ME!"

Grandma Terri (my sister-in-law Trisha's mom) brought her dog Cocoa over.

Grandma Terri in the hammock with all the kids and the dog.

Naylia was hungry and decided to start dinner early with a little Jam and Butter.

On Saturday night, we had dinner in the back yard and Naylia took Josie for a ride on her quad. Cousin Nate had to help a little when it came to turning. They were cruising all around the back yard until the quad ran out of battery. :)

Home again, home again

Well, we are back from our wonderful vacation to Hawaii. We had such a great time! We were really worried about traveling with an 8 month old, but Josie did GREAT. She hardly cried at all on the flights, and the worst thing we encountered was a minor blow-out just before landing in LA on our way back. She ended up having to wear only a onesy on the flight back to SLC because I forgot to put extra pants in our carry on. The trip was fabulous, my sister's wedding was beautiful and it was so great to see all of my family and for all of them to see Josie. I hated leaving, but it is really nice to be home with all my own stuff. The down side is that there is no food in the house except for oatmeal. So I desperately need to go shopping. When we get unpacked and settled, I'll post some pictures.

Easter and Stuff

Here are some pictures from the last week and from Easter. I've been trying to reorder the pictures and make this post all chronological and stuff, but the blogger site just isn't working with me. So here are the pictures in random order.

Easter afternoon at Mimi and Papa's house.
Pretty girl in her pretty dress.

Playing on the trampoline with Aunt Kelley.

Easter basket! Hurray! (We shared one as a family, since Josie doesn't eat candy just yet...

Yay! New toys!

My sister-in-law was house sitting this weekend and we visited her on Friday night. They had two dogs, a cat, and a bird. Josie really liked the kitty.
I love this big toothy grin!

Hot Date

For the first time in a LONG time, Justin and I had a date last night. And by date, I mean NO BABY. We got a gift card to Hamilton's Steak & Seafood from Justin's work way back in January and have been trying to use it since then, but something always comes up (i.e. sick baby, appendicitis, sick mom). And finally last night we were able to go. Justin got a tenderloin steak and ribs, I got the teryaki chicken and we shared a plate of coconut shrimp. We also got some cheesecake and German chocolate cake to go. And the good news is that Josie did GREAT with our friends. Last time we tried to leave her somewhere she cried the whole time and spit up all over them. This time she didn't cry once. Hurray for a great evening! And double hurray for leftovers! Mmmmmmm... :)

Conference Weekend

Since we don't get any TV channels, we decided to spend the weekend down in Ogden so that we could watch General Conference. On Saturday, we spent the day over at Dan & Tara's house with a few friends. Josie LOVED their stairs. It was the first thing she went for when we got her out of the car seat. You'll have to turn your head for the video... sorry.

Saturday Evening, we headed up to Justin's parents house and had dinner. The girls hung out while the boys went to Priesthood Session, and then we had hot fudge sundaes. Sadly, I forgot to get the camera out for that. Josie loves her cousin Tucker and they were playing SO cute together! At one point, she was trying to get away from Papa and ended up tackling Tucker. Oh how I wish I had my video camera ready!! Also on Saturday night, Josie got to try out the hot tub! She loved it! Papa had his camera ready.

Sunday we stayed at Justin's parents' house and watched conference. A baby is quite the distraction! She loved Mimi's giant basket of toys.

Since it was such a beautiful day, we went outside after conference was over and played on the swings. It was such a nice weekend, with a GREAT general conference.

On a side note, Josie has started getting herself into all kinds of predicaments. Here are a few examples:

The last week or so has been spring cleaning! Hurray! When I was a kid, I hated spring cleaning, but I found it very refreshing to clean, rearrange, and haul a bunch of junk off to D.I. So far, I've cleaned our bedroom, the kitchen and living room. My on-going projects are 1. Paint the bathroom and 2. Organize the junk/computer room. I've been thinking that these projects shouldn't take more that a couple hours each. I didn't factor in the baby. What do you do with a baby while you're painting? So I get to work in about 45 minute chunks while she naps. It's definitely interesting and I'm glad that no one sees the rooms I'm working on. :)
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last little while.
Josie is an escape artist and we woke up one morning to this...
Adorable! Love the smile!

Helping with the laundry.

Doesn't she look mischievous??

She got a cut on her finger and I had to put a band aid on it. The first one was completely soaked and off her finger in about 10 seconds. So we had to get her mittens out.

This was just too cute not to share. Shortly after this video was taken, Josie had a fall while trying to walk around and so she doesn't trust the walker anymore. Too bad, it was cute!
