cute baby

I know, I've gone post-crazy tonight but I couldn't call it a night without the latest pictures of Joslyn. Nothing to say really except that my baby is stinkin' cute.

Smiles for mom.

Buddha Belly! Finally!

hahaha... :)
New outfit.

With all the finger-sucking she's been doing, Justin and I were wondering if she could fit her whole fist in her mouth. Well, now we know.

Painting Pumpkins

Every year on the Sunday before Halloween, all Justin's family gets together to paint pumpkins. With so many little kids running around, it just isn't practical to carve them and besides, when you paint them you get to do fun pictures and all that. This year Justin did the painting and put together our Mr. Potatoe-head pumpkin. We have some good looking pumpkins!

Videos

I decided to try putting up a couple of videos to see how it works. The first is Josie giggling--too cute! She gets the hiccups whenever she giggles more than once. The second, I just thought was funny, so I had to post it.

Random Things

Now that I'm at home with the baby, I have all the spare time that I didn't have when I was going to work 8 hours a day. I went to the library yesterday, knowing that I have a list of books a mile long that I want to read. As I wandered around the library looking for books, I couldn't think of even one off my list. So I am compiling a list that I can print out and take with me to the library next time I go. I am ALWAYS looking for suggestions on books to read. The only kind I don't really enjoy are the sappy romances. So anything else, suggest away!

I'm also trying to think of inexpensive things to do with family/friends so that its not ALWAYS game night at my house or their house or whatever. I do enjoy game night, so new game ideas are welcome too.

Finally, exciting news! I have been trying really hard to keep in shape, since I got in pretty good shape right before I had Joslyn. And I am so excited to announce that I actually weigh LESS than it says on my driver's license! Hurray!

Photo Tag

My cousin DeAnna tagged me with this fun version of tag. You go into your photo albums/folders on your computer and take the fourth photo out of the fourth album and post it. My folder was called "Hawaii 2006". We went to my parents for Christmas the first year we were married, so it was really the end of 2005/beginning of 2006. I miss the flowers while I'm here on the mainland, so I usually load up my camera with pictures of them.

I was just reading my cousin's blog to see what she was talking about, probably the same way that you are doing on mine. Little did I know that just by reading I got tagged. So, in case you haven't put it together yet, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU ARE TAGGED!!!! So go ahead and post the fourth picture from the fourth album on your computer. Happy Tagging! :)

time flies when you're having fun

My sister, Kelley, has been here for a week, already! I am SO glad that she's out here! It is so fun to have someone in my family live closer than California. Don't get me wrong, I love Justin's family, but I've always been very close with my family, so its been really hard to be so far away. Plus, Kelley was my partner in crime through those crazy childhood years. We used to do everything together. Its great to have her here! We went miniature golfing this weekend down in Ogden. Don't you think the golf course makes for great picture backdrops? Maybe we'll do family pictures there... :)

And no post of mine would be complete without some pictures of Joslyn. I know that's why you all read the blog anyways. I can't believe how fast she is growing! She's finally too tall for all her newborn clothes and almost wide enough for her 3 month stuff. Her head control is getting really good too. I love to watch her look around and soak everything up. It's like she's trying to memorize everything she sees. Everything she can get her hands onto goes right to her mouth. Anytime she grabs onto something, her mouth opens by reflex. She has discovered her toes and is furiously trying to find a way to get them into her mouth. So far, the easiest way is to use her body weight to her advantage and bend in half, but that requires Mom's help, since the balance isn't so good yet. She is so funny!

In honor of Halloween..

Happy Halloween! Halloween has always been one of my favorite 'holidays'. As a kid, it was the candy, of course, and the dress up! Well, now its about the same. I love the candy still, and dressing up is fun, though I don't usually get the chance to do it. We don't know anyone who has a halloween dress-up party, and we're a little old for trick-or-treating. But this year, my Halloween-fervor has been rekindled! I made some delicious sugar cookies and some boys in the neighborhood helped me decorate them (see above. Isn't that great?? Love 'em!). And I have this awesome light-up spiderweb decoration on my porch. I need to take a picture of that. I got my fall decor up too. And best of all, I bought Josie a halloween costume! I'll put a picture up once I make her wear it. The other thing I loved to do around Halloween was scare littler kids. Again, not so cool for me to do that now. But, in honor of the Halloween of my youth, here are a couple of pictures.
A big fuzzy catepillar decided to live in my garage. I had never in real life seen a catepiller that looked like that! I thought it was awesome! So I took a picture and was on my way. Well, I forgot he was there when I got back and now you know why would should never ever play where cars park.
Yes, its gruesome. But hey, it's Halloween! :)

Conference Weekend

We had an eventful weekend! Friday afternoon, Joslyn and I packed up just about everything and took off for Southern Utah. I went with Aunt Margie down to visit my grandma and grandpa, who haven't seen Josie yet, and also to attend my cousin's baby shower. We spent Friday night and Saturday down in Antimony (anyone not related to me gets a prize if they know where Antimony is!) We watched conference with Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday. Wasn't it great?? A long drive back and we met up with Justin at his parent's house. We don't have TV, so we had to mooch off of others in order to watch conference.

Sunday was more conference and time with the family, a long drive home and a much needed bath for the smelly baby. I'm afraid that Josie isn't going to be very good at sharing. Her 7 month old cousin tried to take her toy and she won the tug of war. But Tucker is a smart guy. He grabbed on to the toy and was getting ready to push off of Josie's head for some leverage before the parents interfered. It was so funny! Those two are going to be little terrors when they are old enough to run around and get into trouble together.

Other exciting news, my younger sister, Kelley, is moving to Utah! Now she'll only be an hour drive away instead of a 2 hour drive and 5 hour flight. Hurray! She gets here next week. I can't wait!

Shots, shots and more shots.

Today was the big day. The 2 month appointment. On a good note, Joslyn is healthy. She's now up to 23 inches and about 11 lbs. The bad part was.. dun dun dun... the shots! I didn't think I'd have a problem with it, seeing as how I'd much rather have Josie get the shots than get one of the diseases. But mean old Anna made me hold her legs down while they poked her. Thankfully, there were only 3 shots and 2 people giving the shots and so it was over so quickly that I didn't have time to start crying. Josie, however, was not so lucky. She was more worked up than I've ever seen her. It was like this picture, only much, much worse. It was so sad!

Can't wait for the 4 month appointment....

On the less heart-breaking side of life, Josie is discovering the joy of putting things in her mouth. She sometimes needs a little help on the aim, but once she gets it to her mouth, life is good. If I put anything close to her hands, like a burp cloth, or toys, she grabs on and tries to pull it towards her head. And she grabs on with a death grip!

Another new thing that's not quite as fun is the spit bubbles. She's a pro. Unfortunately, she's not so good at keeping the spit in her mouth while blowing bubbles, so the front of her onesy can get pretty soaked.

She is getting pretty good at holding her head up, when she wants to, of course. She gets tired pretty quickly when she's on her tummy, but she can hold her head up for a long time when she tries standing up or looking over my shoulder.

I am amazed at the many different positions she wiggles into to sleep. Sometimes it looks like her head will touch her bum. Crazy little baby.

Last but not least, Josie got to go to her first campfire last night! We went up into Logan Canyon with some friends in our neighborhood and roasted marshmallows, etc. However, there was no holding hands and singing kumbaya. What a disappointment. :)

Oh yea, and I chopped all my hair off yesterday. I'm still not sure if I like it or not.
