Latest news..

We've been LOVING this gorgeous spring weather! And I, for one, hope it doesn't go away! I know that Josie agrees with me, because she is forever asking to go outside. For a while, here's how our conversation would go..
Josie: Outside! Bike!
Me: We don't have a bike.
Josie: Find one, Mommy. (in the saddest voice you can imagine..)
Me: We can't take someone else's bike.
Josie: Please, Mommy. Outside, find a bike! (still in the sad voice.)

So we broke down and bought her a tricycle! She absolutely loves it, and always wants to ride it. She's figured out how to pedal, now we need to work on the steering..

I'm not always very prompt in getting Josie down when she finishes her breakfast, so she sometimes gets creative to keep herself busy while I finish eating.

She decided to try out her cousin Gavin's bumbo seat. She's a little big...

We had a sad evening at our house on Thursday.. Josie decided to try to climb one of our stools by herself and ended up pulling the stool down on herself. I have never had such a distraught baby (or ever been so distraught!). This was her first pretty serious injury! The lump on her forehead appeared immediately and it was HUGE. She cried for a good 5 minutes straight, the moved on to whimpering, and then decided that holding a bag of ice on her head was pretty funny. She went right back to normal and everything is completely fine. (THANK GOODNESS!) She has a couple of pretty good bruises on her head and a big one on her arm, but she already thinks they're pretty cool. Funny girl. Here are a couple of shots after she calmed down:

Big girl!

Josie is getting SO big, I just can't believe it! She talks in sentences all of the time, and I can understand her about 80% of the time. She tries to say anything and everything she hears (scary, I know!). Just the other day, after watching a Sesame Street, she started saying, "Umm... turkey cow!" and we couldn't figure out where she'd even heard the work turkey, until we remembered that they had a farm/animal segment on the Sesame Street and asked a little girl what kinds of animals she saw... (yea, she saw, um.. turkeys, cows, etc.)
Just yesterday, I was woken up by some crazy yelling coming through the monitor. Once I woke up enough to be coherent, I realized she was yelling, "MOMMY, WAKE UP!!"
So here are some pictures of our big girl for you to enjoy. She's still a big cheeser and tons of fun to have around. Here she is helping mom get some cleaning done....
Like any girl out there, Josie LOVES shoes. She'll wear any that she can get her hands on, and we even have to try some on at the store sometimes.

She loves accessories--here she is with upside down sunglasses, toy bracelets, and of course, her car.
I encourage you all to invest in one of these $10 hampers from Wal-mart. Its one of Josie's favorite toys. She was inside and saw this toy on the ground and decided she wanted that too, so reached out the hole in the side and tried to pull it in.. While I took this picture, she was saying, "Stuck! stuck!"
We also love to pretend, and Josie's favorite is pretending to be asleep. I was working on a sewing project and she grabbed all my scraps and draped herself in them and "fell asleep". I was a little too slow with the camera, but you get the idea..
If you haven't seen Josie lately, you will be SHOCKED by the amount of hair she has! There's enough for pigtails! Yay! I think I'm more excited about that than anyone else, but its so stinkin' cute! And yes, she's still very much Justin's daughter...
We've been learning emotions lately. Here's how it goes: Happy! (Big smile), Sad (frown), Surprised! (gasp!), etc. This is Josie's "sad".
We had a ward talent show and Josie very much wanted to get up on the stage. She didn't get to go up, but she got to say hi in the mic.
And last, but definitely not least, Josie has decided that some days, she is ready to go potty in the toilet! On Monday night, we were all happily shocked when Josie ran to the potty after a bath and sat down and peed. We had a repeat occurrence Tuesday! Yay Josie!! We are very far from potty trained. But still, its exciting news and we are very proud of her!

Funny thing that just happened as I am sitting here blogging:
Josie ran into the bathroom and said "Oh no, light off". So she came scurrying out to the living room, climbed up on the couch, flipped the light switch, then ran back to the bathroom. "Oh no, light off..."

The Little Mermaid

We decided to watch the little mermaid today. All of a sudden, Josie starts saying, "Santa, Santa, Santa!" and pointing at the screen. I turn back to the TV and see none other than King Triton.
There you have it from the mouth of Josie... King Triton is Santa. (Or, Santa is a merman... whichever you prefer.)

Hawaii Tsunami

I'm sure most of you have heard about the earthquake in Chile and the subsequent tsunami that is heading towards Hawaii. This hits pretty close to home for me. Some of my family and many of my friends and their families live in Hawaii, so you can understand my concern. Please say a little prayer for those in Hawaii and also all those who have been affected by the earthquake.

Olympic Fever

We've really been enjoying our DVR this month as we have been watching the Olympics and skipping all the talk and commercials! Josie's been getting really into it too. Whenever someone falls she says, "Ohh, sad.. " Most of all, she loves the figure skating!

Here's what I find after nap time...

We had a happy Valentine's day. Josie got a Mimi Mouse (Minnie) and now takes her EVERYWHERE. We went down to Mimi & Papa's house and got to play with all the cousins.

After church on V-day--Josie brought home her first nursery craft! Too cute! Its on the fridge now and Josie likes to point to it and say, "Heart!"
Helping mom with the ironing.. or something like that.
Josie's favorite breakfast is fruit loops. She usually does a great job gobbling them up.. not this morning. She methodically took them one by one from the bowl and put them in the cup holder on her tray...

Funny girl.. never a dull moment!

Winter blues...

Can I just say, I am SO SICK OF WINTER!!! I hate being cooped up in the house all day and I hate that the only place I ever go to get out of the house is a store. Josie is forever asking to go outside and it is just too cold! Another thing I absolutely hate is that we end up watching way more TV than I would like, just because we get bored! I'm afraid Josie likes the TV too much.. Finally, I am sick of being sick, and of Josie being sick! I don't know the valley very well, so I don't know of any indoor play places (besides McDonalds.. yucky) or fun indoor things to do that aren't too spendy.. so day after day we sit inside or walk around stores.
What do you do to beat the winter blues? And for those of you who live close by, what is there to do in the valley?

18 mo Check up!

We had Josie's 18 month check up today! We finally decided to go to a pediatrician (vs. a family doctor). Our new doctor is great. Josie warmed right up to him, so the exam was easy! She was chatting and playing with him in no time! He said that she is healthy and strong, and really advanced in her vocab. What a smartie! Here are her stats:

Height: 31.5", 42 percentile

Weight: 23.44 lbs, 35 percentile

We also got a fancy growth chart that shows where she lands among girls her age, and has lots of information on it, for example, the ideal weight for her height is 24.1 lbs. Oh, and if you were wondering about her noggin, yes, its still big. Its in the 93 percentile...

I finally uploaded the videos off of my video camera! Here are a couple of my favorites from the past little while.

I finally got her singing the ABC's! Listen carefully... my favorite part is at the end when you get a little "lmnop123!" :)

I have proof that I've been exercising! Here's my mimic..

Not much to say about this one, I just love it!
